Happy New Year
New year, new resolution and the welcoming of the COW. Majority of my classmates are born in the year of COW which kind of make them 'cow-wish'. I'm not sure what that means but to me it means lot's of good food, mahjong and angpow.
Aside from that - exercise more, eat healthy and capture more interesting photos.
Just completed a 78km night cycling from eastern loop PCN and then down to Nicoll highway and back to Tampines. Thanks guys and gals for accomodating with my crazy ideas of a half-island cycling.

Canon Photomarathon 2008
Let just say we started with an ugly Canon t-shirt. And then started with an abstract photography theme called 'Change, Dreams and Freedom'. I guess we can start with the t-shirt first.
Nonetheless, the experience is still good. HY has been a joy to accompany throughout the photoshoot and the submission by competitors is also eye-opening.
Lesson learnt:
a) Time is limited. Plan ahead. It is hard to be creative under pressure.
2) Be consistent. You may end up with a series of photos that just random that doesn't fit both the theme and the overall story. As they always say, a story tells a thousand words or in this case a thousand confusion.
Overall, enjoy this subpar submission that obviously did not win prizes that day. (Obviously, there is some sense of giving up at the end of the day)

Pulau Semakau - Southern Island
Have you ever wonder where does all the rubbish goes in Singapore? A good question that got answered today.
There's are currently 4 major incinerators in Singapore that produces tonnes of ashes each day. These ashes were then shipped over to a man-made island called 'Pulau Semakau'. Started in 1995, it's now 1/4 fill up and expected to be out of space by 2045. While there is recycling effort, a lot of the waste are not viable for recycling and thus would still end up in the landfill.
To ensure that the waste is non toxic, mangrove are grown around the island. If the mangrove starts to wither, it serves as a warning that the water has been polluted and there are toxicity in the soil. Also, a 20cm soil is laid on top of these ashes to ensure the land would regenerate and trees and grass would eventually grow on the land. Maybe eventually, this island can be turned into a resort. Ok, maybe not a resort but as a reminder that we all have a part to play in reducing waste.
Honestly, this are the kind of things that was taken for granted. Who knew that so much effort has been put in to ensure that the island is clean.

Southern Ridge and Chinese Garden
Southern Ridge is a new addition to the nature parks of Singapore where the Anderson Wave is located. Expect to climb a lot of stairs :) By the time I'm finishing climbing the stairs I am done for the day.
Chinese Garden is on a nice weather today. It has been a while since i last visited here.

Patong Beach, Phuket Trip 3D 2N.....
Believe it or not, but this is the first time I am taking a flight. Somehow, travel never really caught on me and plus I am going with my colleagues. I definitely very excited to see a new place that I've never been to. My colleagues probably thinking what is the excitement given that Phuket is just two hours away.
This hotel was actually hit by the tsunami back in 2004. As it is directly facing the sea, it was hit quite badly. All is good now after the revamped. In fact, the whole beach is bustling with people again although the signs of the tsunami effect still hit hard for the people that was here at that time.
There wasn't much to do on the last day given that it was raining. Time to head home.

Photo Outing - Outram Park
This is a new experience for me by joining clubsnap members for a photography outing. Even on the first outing, I have learnt numerous tricks about photography (framing, lighting) and of course experience by walking on the streets.
(Updates on 04-Jul-19: Looking back, this is probably the first post that started my photography journey. In fact, some of the people that I know have since become my best friends. This is definitely some memories to keep)
